We investigated what happens to sound waves when the pitch of a sound changes. We discovered that the larger instruments make a lower sound and the smaller the instrument the more high pitch the sound.
Our timelines show some major events in history and the order in which they occurred. We chose how to present our timelines; straight lines, zig-zags or a wavy design.
In Science, we are investigating how sound is made. We completed a carousel of activities to help us understand. It was a very noisy afternoon but we can now explain that sound is made from vibrations that move air particles in a wave to our ears.
As part of DT we created catapults which we designed, tested, tweaked then used in a catapulting competition. Teams of 3 had to knock down the “wall” in a test of distance and strength.
The winning team were the Maid Marions! They successfully knocked down 17 pieces of the wall!
We have been looking at some words that have a French origin. We had to match the definitions to the pictures then piece together and match the correct word!
We were lucky enough to have another go at archery today when Premier came to visit. We learnt to improve our aim with more of us hitting the target and then played some Robin Hood games earning treasure for the team. Once we had earned some treasure, we could steal treasure from other teams!
We started our new topic today with a plethora of activities. Firstly, we had to crack codes and riddles to earn pieces to complete a puzzle.
We used photos of our faces and added them to character outlines to make ourselves in to Robin Hood or Maid Marion. We had to use colour and collage to finish the clothing.
In the afternoon, we tried archery, stick fighting and vortexing to steal gold, bread or catch the Sheriff of Nottingham.
We also began reading the story of Robin Hood and the Silver Arrow throughout the day.
