Digestive system

We drew round a friend then we had to place the organs associated with the digestive system in the correct place in the body.

We can explain how food is digested.

Making switches

In Science, we have been learning about electricity and have made a series of circuits. Today we used our knowledge of conductors and insulators to design and test switches to open and close the circuits to make the bulb switch ( on and off).

Today we experienced the game of quidditch . We learnt some skills, the rules then played a match. It was exciting yet complicated. Everyone had different roles within the team but nobody caught the golden snitch!

Street Dance

Over the last few weeks, we have been learning and choreographing a street dance to the song Uptown Funk. Yesterday, we performed our dance to each other. It was a lot of fun!

Rainforest Art

This week we used pastels or watercolours to finish our Georgia O’Keefe style sketches. We practised the skills of using pastels and watercolour urs before choosing which media to use. The children worked incredibly hard to complete their pictures to a high standard. We are very pleased with the results.

Active maths

On a cold but sunny morning, we took our maths lesson outside for some active maths! We followed a trail of fraction questions where the answer led to the next question. We worked quickly to answer the questions accurately before running to find the next one.

Georgie O’Keefe

We have studied paintings of flowers by Georgia O’Keefe and used sketching techniques and close observations of shape and size to replicate our favourite paintings. Next week we will add colour using pencil, watercolours or pastels.

Our topic for this term is rainforests, learning all about where they are in the world, what the climate is like, what plants and animals survive there and why they are so important to us. Today we made our own “forest in a bottle” and we will be watching them to see what happens in the water cycle and what conditions are like in the rainforests. We also filled our classroom with rainforest creatures.

Active maths

We did a multiplication trail to practise using the column method to multiply two digit numbers. We had to carefully calculate the answer to the question then find the answer around the playground in order to find the next question. We really enjoyed this maths and were much quicker calculating! Win win!
